Oh, we have had a bitter cold weekend. The kids missed Thursday and Friday with a two hour delay today. My Chris worked from home Thursday and Friday. And all we could say is how wonderful it was to be home!
I love Colorado. There is so much nature here that it nearly slays me sometimes. The harshness of the cold with a backdrop of beauty gives Colorado its own brand of wild-ness. I think we all need a bit of wild-ness to keep us in balance. It has certainly shaped the people here. Our Sunday School was PACKED yesterday. And I must add that 80% of the people are over 60. These people live life to the full–and I love that about them. No-excuse living. They get out and do! It satisfies my soul in ways I could never explain.
One aspect of the weekend that I am still considering is a conversation I had with a friend from church yesterday. She was telling me that a family member of hers likes to post passive-aggressive things on facebook to both gripe to her and kind of tell everybody else how bad my friend is to all her other friends (note: my friend is amazing, thoughtful and a caring person). It’s really a swipe that some people like to take in front of others–an action that is steeped in meanness and dissatisfaction.
Perhaps you relate? All the more reason to dis-connect your facebook today and take away the “power” these folks feel. Some folks are just bitter cold in their spirit–with nothing of beauty to bring balance. In cases such as these, I believe taking a social media break can be SUCH A GIFT that you give yourself this Christmas season.
Sometimes I want to shout from the rooftops, stop tearing one another down and look for ways to speak blessing into others’ lives. Unfortunately, there are some, who just won’t be blessed or a blessing. In those cases, I recommend you give yourself some space…and begin to build joy-filled relationships with people, who are life giving. Just my two cents on this very cold day!
God’s Blessings on You!
